Pharmaceutical costs have increased by 50 percent in the Stockholm Region over the past ten years. It is part of a trend where new medicines are becoming more expensive, according to the expert group NT-rådet, which advises the regions which medicines should be offered to patients. - It will be a big problem both now and in the future, says Gerd Lärfars, chairman of the NT Council.
Although a drug is not subsidized, exceptions can be made for individual patients who are particularly seriously ill.
In Sweden, it is the Council for New Therapies, the NT Council, that decides which medicines it may include.
It will also be an advisory recommendation for the regions.
