The presidential campaign of Valérie Pécresse will really start this Monday.

And for her first trip as an LR candidate, she will play the card of bringing her political family together.

For this it will be on the land of Eric Ciotti, who is putting pressure to stay on course to the right.

After a private lunch in Nice, the two finalists of the LR primary will go to Saint-Martin-Vésubie where they will lay a wreath in memory of the victims of the storm Alex at the end of 2020, before a joint public meeting.

It is a sign of unity, at the opening of a week dedicated to the "gathering" of LR, since the candidate should go to the stronghold of her beaten competitors, and in particular Friday at Xavier Bertrand in Hauts-de-France. .

The former member for Yvelines, who resumed her card with the Republicans this fall after leaving it in 2019, also plans to be with parliamentarians on Tuesday.

Ciotti's warning

The trip this Monday will be particularly scrutinized after the unexpected warning Sunday of Eric Ciotti, finalist of the congress with 39% of the votes. "The message that was launched yesterday by Valérie Pécresse was not a good message," he said after a public meeting. In question: an interview where the very fresh candidate refused to take up certain muscular proposals of her ex-rival, like the creation of a "French Guantanamo" or the national priority for jobs or housing.

"We will talk about it tomorrow with Valérie Pécresse, I support her, but I intend that my ideas be represented with force, the ideas of a right which intends to be respected", insisted Eric Ciotti.

The candidate for her part assured that she would "enrich" her project because "there were good ideas" in each of the LR contenders.

No "soft synthesis" but "if we can add a lemon zest or a vanilla zest to spice up the pound cake, I will", she slipped to the Grand Jury RTL - Le Figaro - LCI.

Two lines clash

In the entourage of the candidate, it is explained that there was a telescoping between the interviews, that the two officials have since spoken on the phone and that there is "no problem" between them.

But Eric Ciotti's warning tarnishes the fine image of unity given by LR in this congress, where the losers were fairly lined up behind the winner as soon as the results were known.

The challenge now for Valérie Pécresse is to hear the request of Eric Ciotti while also convincing the center-right past or tempted by the macronie.

The political game will therefore be in full swing at LR this week.
