Today, Monday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune revealed his country's intention to host an "inclusive" conference of the Palestinian factions soon, announcing at the same time a financial contribution to the Palestinian National Authority worth $100 million.

Taboun said in a press conference with Mahmoud Abbas - who is visiting Algeria - that the Algerian commitment came "in fulfillment of Algeria's revolutionary history and the firm commitment of the entire Algerian people to support the just Palestinian cause in all circumstances."

Algeria is preparing to host the Arab League summit in March 2022, and is seeking "to put the Palestinian cause at the center of the priorities of this important event," as Tebboune emphasized.

"There is no doubt that crystallizing a unified and common position on supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, through collective re-adherence to the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, will have a significant impact on the success of the work of this summit," the Algerian president added.

Tebboune also announced the allocation of 300 scholarships in Algerian universities for Palestinian students.

The official Palestinian News Agency stated that Abbas briefed Tebboune on "the latest political developments related to the Palestinian issue, and the occupation practices that undermine the chances of peace and the two-state solution."

Abbas said that the Palestinian issue "is going through unprecedented challenges, in light of the intransigence of the Israeli government and the declaration of its president (Naftali Bennett) that he does not believe in the two-state solution, and his quest to deepen settlements and occupation, stifle our economy and steal our land and our natural and financial resources."

Abbas praised Algeria's supportive stances for the cause and the Palestinian people in all international forums.

Abbas arrived on Sunday evening in the Algerian capital, on an official visit that will last for three days, to discuss preparations for the Arab summit scheduled in Algeria next March.
