A research team has investigated how to work from the floor up to the management in the municipalities with the crime prevention work.

They have done this by examining the municipalities' status reports and citizen promises that have been made with the aim of reducing crime.

- The biggest difference we saw between the municipalities was how the work was organized.

They had a similar job regarding status reports, but then it differed in how they made citizen promises, says Lena Talberg who is a senior lecturer in social work at MDH.

The status reports are based on cooperation between various activities and the police, and map out, among other things, which problems are most common.

When it comes to citizen promises, they give citizens an insight into, and influence on, the local crime prevention and security-creating work.
