It is to prevent the spread of infection that the Danish capital region is now using the method to check whether the employees have been vaccinated.

Rikshospitalet is one of the workplaces affected by the new rules.

- We work with sick and vulnerable people.

Most of those who work here are already vaccinated, so it is a small intervention compared to closing the whole community, says Louise Mönster, nurse and elected representative at Rigshospitalet to Danish TV 2 Lorry.

There are no directives on how the inspections should be carried out.

It is up to each employer to decide.

- This is because there is a big difference in what the workplaces look like, says Kirstine Vestergård Nielsen, HR and education director at the Capital Region, to TV 2 Lorry.

If the employee cannot show a valid covid passport, he risks being sent home from his workplace without pay.

Staff can be relocated

In Sweden, employers do not have that opportunity.

- There is no solution we can apply in Sweden because we do not have the tools.

We get to work with motivation for the staff, says Eva Melander, infection control doctor in Region Skåne and continues:

- What we can do is relocate staff who work with extra vulnerable patients in health and care, for example patients who risk becoming extra ill if they get covid or may not have the same protection of the vaccine due to old age or weakened immune system .

Are there any plans to do so?

- It is discussed within the region.

There are some regions that have made decisions about this, but we are not there yet, says Eva Melander.
