Rescue efforts are still ongoing after the volcanic eruption in eastern Java in Indonesia, which has forced thousands of residents to flee.

An ash cloud that stretched over 12,000 meters into the air, and darkened large parts of the area, has, among other things, resulted in a thick layer of clay settling over cars and houses.

At the same time, lava has flowed down the mountainside and destroyed homes and infrastructure.

So far, 13 people have been reported dead, 57 have been found injured and over 900 have been evacuated.
