People’s Daily Bell: Openly challenging the one-China principle is the biggest threat to peace across the Taiwan Strait

On December 3, local time, when discussing the Taiwan issue, senior officials of the US government openly referred to Taiwan as a "country", unfoundedly imposing the so-called "change of the status quo" on China, and said that they must ensure that Taiwan has "defensive means." .

The remarks of individual US politicians seriously violate the truth and the norms of international relations, openly challenge the one-China principle, and grossly interfere in China’s internal affairs. They are sending the wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" forces, playing the "Taiwan card" and "using Taiwan to control China" politics. Conspiracy is the greatest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

At present, the situation in the Taiwan Strait is facing a new round of tension. US politicians and the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party are the initiators.

Individual politicians in the United States openly called Taiwan a "country". This seriously violates the one-China principle and the political commitments made by the United States in the three Sino-US joint communiqués. The nature is very bad, and the United States must stop its wrong words and deeds.

Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party authorities have incited cross-strait confrontation and continued to engage in provocations of "relying on the United States for independence."

The wrong words and deeds of individual US politicians will only condone "Taiwan independence" and make the situation in the Taiwan Strait more tense.

Certain politicians in the United States ignore the facts and weave a lie that China is unilaterally "changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait."

But in fact,

the real status quo of the Taiwan issue is: there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is a part of China, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legal government representing China.

The Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the United States clearly stated that "The Government of the United States of America recognizes China's position that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China."

In the August 17 Communiqué, the United States reiterated that it has no intention of interfering in China's internal affairs.

On the Taiwan issue, the Chinese government’s position is consistent and its actions are resolute.

China has always tried its utmost sincerity to pursue peaceful reunification, but it will never allow the occurrence and occurrence of "Taiwan independence" forces splitting China.

The DPP authorities are "relying on the United States to seek independence" and are constantly provoking, and the United States is constantly "using Taiwan to control China". China is bound to make a legitimate response and resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Obviously, the US-Taiwan linkages are "undermining the status quo in the Taiwan Strait," but individual US politicians have exaggerated China's legitimate actions in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity as "changing the status quo." This is completely reversing black and white and confuses people.

While hyping China to change the "Taiwan Strait status quo", the US deliberately elevated the status of the so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" and the "six guarantees", seeking excuses for its so-called guarantee of Taiwan's "defensive capabilities."

Such political manipulation by the US completely violates the norms of international relations.

The so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" and the "Six Guarantees" were unilaterally formulated by the United States. Their content violated the three Sino-US joint communiqués and grossly interfered in China's internal affairs. It was completely wrong, illegal, and invalid. strongly oppose.

The U.S. uses the so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" and the "six guarantees" to define its policy toward Taiwan, which is grossly wrong.

As we all know, the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiqués are the political foundation of Sino-US relations.

Successive U.S. governments have made clear commitments to this.

At present, individual politicians in the United States deliberately misinterpret the one-China principle out of an attempt to "use Taiwan to control China". This not only deviates from their own political commitments and loses the demeanor that a major country should have, but also challenges the basic norms of international relations.

The realization of national unification is a legitimate and inevitable requirement of all countries in the world, and it has nothing to do with it since ancient times.

The complete reunification of China is the common aspiration of all Chinese people.

We are patient and willing to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and best efforts.

However, if the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces provoke persecution and even break the red line, we will have to take drastic measures.

The U.S. should immediately stop its erroneous act of challenging the one-China principle, truly abide by the provisions of the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués, and stop sending any dangerous and wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" forces.
