05 December 2021 The two alleged attackers, the two 22-year-old girls on the S5 Milan-Varese railway line, were arrested in execution of arrest for suspected crime of sexual violence.

They are two men, one of Italian nationality and the other of North African origin.

The investigation was conducted by the Varese Mobile Squad and coordinated by the Varese Public Prosecutor's Office.

The two young people between 25 and 30 years old, about one meter and 80 tall, were also identified thanks to the descriptions of the two young victims. One girl was raped on board the train on Friday 3 December while the other was attacked but managed to escape the abuse in the Venegono Inferiore station. The events took place after 22.00, on the S5 Milan-Varese train line.

In the immediacy of the event, the agents of the Varese Flying Squad spoke with the victims, who provided a detailed description of the two men. The surveillance cameras of the Venegono Inferiore station also framed them, when they got off the local train, after abusing a first victim.

The

first assault

it took place on board the train around 10 pm, near Tradate (Varese). The two targeted a 22-year-old girl who was traveling alone and raped her. The young people, after the crime, got off at the Venegono Inferiore station. The victim, after recovering, called the controller and was immediately rescued. With the help of Polfer, she was taken off the train at the Vedano Olona station and taken to the Emergency Department of the Del Ponte Hospital in Varese in yellow code. Doctors ascertained that he had suffered sexual violence. The pair of attackers, however, did not stop.

The

second attack

it happened in the waiting room of the Venegono Inferiore station, where the two men tried to abuse another 22-year-old, who managed to wriggle out and escape. The two men also moved away at a brisk pace from the railway yard.

After the two sexual assaults on Friday evening on board a train on the Milan-Varese railway line and in the station in Vedano Olona (Varese), "the Police - said the regional councilor for Security, Immigration and Local Police, Riccardo De Corato - it has already activated control services on the Laveno-Treviglio line and will upgrade them on the other lines, but unfortunately the staff of agents is not sufficient to guarantee capillary checks on all lines and trains ". "I want to express my solidarity - added the commissioner - to the two girls who on Friday evening were sexually assaulted by two men, probably foreigners, while traveling on the Milan-Varese railway line. One of them managed to escape the attackers and called 112.What happened brings to the fore the issue of safety on convoys, especially in the evening ".
