Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung has pledged to punish everything from making malicious 'deep fake' videos such as distributing false pornography to saving files.
Candidate Lee made this statement today (the 5th) by posting on his Facebook page titled "I will protect the people from deepfake human rights violations."
Candidate Lee said, "Deepfakes have a positive impact on the development of the industry, but there are challenges."
Deepfake is a video synthesis technology using artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, a new type of crime that synthesizes and distributes faces of real people in pornography is increasing.
Candidate Lee first said, “We will strengthen the current law to strongly punish not only the production and distribution of malicious deep fake videos, but also the possession, purchase, and storage of (video). We will also strengthen the public capacity of the prosecution, police and the National Election Commission,” he said.
