Both Merck and Pfizer have recently submitted their oral drug approval applications to the Canadian Ministry of Health.

  The Canadian government has signed a contract with Merck to pre-order 500,000 courses of oral anti-coronavirus drug Molnupiravir (Molnupiravir).

After the drug is approved by the Ministry of Health, an additional 500,000 courses of drugs can be added.

The initial amount of oral drugs pre-ordered by Pfizer is 1 million courses.

  Canadian Minister of Public Services and Procurement Filomena Tassi said that vaccination is still the best way to fight the new crown epidemic, but effective and easy-to-use treatments are essential to reduce the severity of the disease and help save lives.
