Chelsea punished by West Ham

After leading twice in score, but making too many mistakes, Chelsea lost in the London derby (3-2).

The sanction did not take long since, with 33 points, the Blues are now a step behind Liverpool while awaiting the trip from Manchester City (third, 32 pts) to Watford (6.30 p.m.).

West Ham consolidated fourth place with 27 units, four more than fifth-placed Arsenal.

Thomas Tuchel's men, who have built their success on an impermeable defense, can blame themselves for letting points slip away in this match.

Twice they took the advantage, on a header from Thiago Silva (0-1, 28 ') then on a superb volley from Mason Mount, after a perfect serve from Hakim Ziyech (1-2, 44').

But they almost offered two goals to their opponent who had already knocked down Liverpool on his lawn a few weeks ago, by the same score.

First there was Jorginho's reckless pass for Edouard Mendy who procrastinated and then mowed down Jarrod Bowen in the box, offering Manuel Lanzini the opportunity to equalize at 1-1 (40th).

Then there was this poor placement of Mendy, surprised at his near post by a missed center from Arthur Masuaku who gave the victory to the Hammers (3-2, 87th) who remained on two defeats and a draw.

The 2-2 goal, by Bowen, with a strong strike low to the ground, at the entrance to the surface, owed nothing to anyone (56th).

Chelsea seem to be starting to suffer a bit from the injuries affecting their squad, N'Golo Kanté being absent from the squad while Kai Havertz had to be replaced at the break due to injury, even though it was by Lukaku.

Not very reassuring before a trip to Saint Petersburg on Wednesday, in the Champions League, where it will be a question of securing first place in Group H, and with still seven matches to be played by the end of December.

Liverpool is tearing up

Long draft, but having given everything, Liverpool managed to snatch an important success from Wolverhampton (1-0).

Unusually awkward in the first period, Jürgen Klopp's men believed they would never be able to tell the difference after a huge failure by Diogo Jota against his former team (60th).

As goalkeeper Jose Sa and a teammate crashed into each other, the forward scooped the ball into the box and shot but found Conor Coady on his way to dodge a goal that looked quite done.

The Reds played it all for the sake of bringing in Origi in place of midfielder Jordan Henderson in the 68th minute.

Winning poker stroke since the Belgian, with a pivot strike after a center back from Mohamed Salah, scored after extra time (0-1, 90th + 4).

Newcastle finally wins!

The 15th day was a good one for the Magpies who recorded their first success of the season by dominating another relegation, Burnley (1-0).

A victory which allows them to temporarily abandon the red lantern, on goal difference, at Norwich, which plays at Tottenham on Sunday, and to join Burnley on the number of points (ten).

The release came from a trickster goal from Callum Wilson who recovered a ball released by Nick Pope, after a cross from Fabian Schär, to score despite the opposing defenders back on the line (1-0, 40th).

If the road to maintenance still seems long for Newcastle, this first success will relieve their new Saudi owner who spent more than 350 million euros in October to buy the club.
