The U.S. has agreed to send 9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Africa.

US media, including CNN Broadcasting, obtained a speech from White House Corona 19 Coordinator Jeff Giants and reported that the US would deliver 11 million doses of vaccine to countries around the world, including 9 million doses in Africa.

"President Joe Biden said from the beginning that if we want to protect the American people and our economy, we must eradicate the virus everywhere," the Giants coordinator said in a speech.

"Under President Biden's leadership, the United States is leading this," he said.

Combined with the amount announced this time, CNN reported that the US will send 100 million doses of vaccine to Africa.

The Biden administration has promised 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine worldwide, and so far 280 million doses have been delivered to 110 countries, CNN added.

Last month, as the new mutation Omicron was first reported in South Africa and showed signs of spreading, travel restrictions were imposed on countries in southern Africa, including the United States and Europe.
