South Africa: daily cases of corona increased 4 times in 4 days

The daily number of "Covid-19" infections in South Africa has increased nearly fourfold as of last Tuesday, at a time when the new Omicron mutant of the Corona virus is spreading throughout the country.

Today, Friday, Bloomberg News Agency quoted the National Institute of Infectious Diseases as saying that South Africa recorded 16,055 infections during the last 24 hours, at a time when the rate of positive tests for the virus increased rapidly from 16.5% to 24.3% last Tuesday.

The agency added that a study conducted in South Africa on Corona injuries since the beginning of the pandemic indicated that the risk of re-infection and infection with the new Omicron mutant is three times higher than the rate of re-infection and infection of any other previous strain of the Corona virus.
