03 December 2021The Council of Ministers has given the green light, according to what is learned from government sources, to the bill for the prevention and contrast of the phenomenon of violence against women and domestic violence. The text is the result of the work of the ministers Elena Bonetti, Luciana Lamorgese, Marta Cartabia, Mara Carfagna, Mariastella Gelmini, Fabiana Dadone and Erika Stefani.

Increased

penalties for

those warned for domestic violence

The penalties for the crimes of beatings, injuries, threats, trespassing and damage are increased "if the crime is committed in the context of domestic violence by a person already warned". The draft of the bill on violence against women and domestic violence provides for this.

We also proceed ex officio

For some of the crimes against women, particularly in cases of domestic violence, magistrates can also proceed ex officio. This is foreseen by the draft of the bill "for the prevention and contrast of the phenomenon of violence against women and domestic violence".

Possible surveillance to protect victims

The police body that proceeds following a complaint or complaint in the context of domestic violence, "if concrete and relevant elements of danger of repetition of the conduct emerge from the first investigations", notifies the competent prefect who can adopt "dynamic supervisory measures, to be reviewed quarterly, to protect the injured party". The draft of the bill against violence against women and domestic violence provides for this.
