Dubai Municipality has reported that it has carried out 69,025 inspection visits to food establishments in the emirate, since the beginning of this year. The compliance rate in general is about 90%, according to the Director of the Food Safety Department in the municipality, Sultan Al-Taher.

Al-Taher explained that the municipality implemented closure decisions that included 353 food establishments, due to violations related to public safety, and others related to non-compliance with the precautionary procedures and requirements to confront the spread of the new Corna virus (Covid-19), stressing the continuation of the implementation of daily inspection campaigns, to ensure that all institutions adhere to the controls. set by the municipality.

He stressed that the municipality has monitored a great commitment by food establishments to the procedures and requirements it has set, in terms of stressing public safety measures, during the recent period, attributing the reason to the increase in campaigns and inspection and awareness visits carried out by the municipality.

He pointed out that the municipality was keen to intensify its inspection campaigns during the fiftieth holiday of the Union, distributed over the tourist places, which witnessed many events, and were intended for families and large numbers of the public, as work teams were allocated to take over the task to ensure everyone's commitment.

Al-Taher told "Emirates Today" that municipal inspectors address violations with strict procedures, without complacency, and during supervisory visits, they check daily follow-up records for the health of workers, write down sterilization and disinfection processes, and ensure that food safety requirements are applied to food during receipt, preparation, storage, and display at temperatures Hygienic, hygiene and sterilization procedures are applied to prevent cross-contamination and pest control.

He explained that the municipality checks food establishments in the emirate of various activities, such as restaurants, cafeterias, and cafes that provide food, groceries, supermarkets, and bakeries, and also inspects and monitors delivery cars, to ensure that they are sterilized, maintain food safety procedures after each order, and change delivery workers to the muzzle and gloves after every order.
