The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment revealed that it has recently appointed 41 citizens, including 24 veterinarians, 17 guides and agricultural engineers, graduates of Emirati national academic institutions, as part of a qualification program aimed at enhancing the capabilities and practical experiences of Emirati youth, and increasing the number of them working in these specialties, as part of its strategy to enhance security and food safety, and in support of the priority of empowering Emirati youth.

The Ministry stated that it is working, in coordination with its strategic partners, to support and encourage the enrollment of high school students in disciplines related to veterinary sciences and veterinary medicine, by allowing the appointment of graduates of this specialization to work as veterinarians in the Ministry’s 17 agricultural and veterinary extension centers, which provide veterinary services from Treatment, immunization and guidance, covering all parts of the country, in addition to job opportunities available in veterinary quarantines at land, sea and air border ports, as well as job opportunities in the national veterinary laboratories affiliated with the Ministry. The Ministry also trains students enrolled in these programs every year to qualify them for field work, and raise level of knowledge and awareness.

The ministry stated to "Emirates Today" that it is working within a set of procedures and requirements that ensure raising the level of veterinary services in the country, including providing the service of licensing the practice of veterinary medicine for veterinarians and auxiliary professions for the veterinary profession, where 1051 veterinarians were licensed, including 657 doctors veterinarians to work in veterinary facilities in the private sector, while the number of veterinarians working in government agencies reached 394 doctors of different nationalities.

The Ministry indicated that the number of licensed veterinary clinics in the country, according to the latest statistics available in its database, reached 155 facilities with therapeutic activity, including 99 primary clinics, 47 comprehensive clinics, two specialized clinics, four comprehensive hospitals, and three specialized hospitals.

The Ministry set several requirements for licensing the veterinary clinic, and divided them into three groups, which are first: General requirements, which include that the facility be licensed by the Ministry, that the facility top a banner on the front with the name and type of activity written on it, and that the location is appropriate in accordance with the planning and procedures of the local authority and facilitates Access to it, and that the veterinary facility is not connected to or open to any facility, housing or other property, and a source of water and sewage is provided in accordance with the rules set by the competent local authorities, and means to combat fire, and an appropriate container for sealed waste.

Second: Special requirements for clinics, laboratories, veterinary hospitals, pharmacies and veterinary drug stores, which include that the floors and walls are made of an easy-to-clean and sterilize material, and that the facility be well-lit and ventilated, taking into account the availability of air conditioners, extractors and thermometers, in addition to providing an incinerator that meets health and environmental conditions for disposal. of waste and remnants of samples, or contracting with one of the authorities or companies specialized in this field, and providing a suitable refrigerator for storing medicines, vaccines and reagents.

Third: The technical requirements that include primary veterinary clinics, so that the facility is in a suitable location, and the space of the rooms and sections is suitable for the animal species licensed for treatment, and it must contain at least a room for examination and treatment, and it shall be equipped with a table for examining the animals in proportion to the species mentioned in the license and an airtight locker To preserve controlled and narcotic substances, and places designated to put the used medicines, and to have at least one veterinarian with a degree of general practitioner. As for comprehensive and specialized veterinary clinics, it is necessary to have a license from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) in the event that the treatment facility desires to practice X-ray diagnosis, and the facility should be in a suitable location, and the size of the rooms and sections are suitable for the animal species licensed for treatment.

The technical requirements for primary veterinary clinics included that they consist of at least the following sections, which are an examination and treatment room equipped with a table for examining animals and in proportion to the types mentioned in the license, a cabinet for storing tools and medicines, a surgery room equipped with a surgical table in proportion to the types mentioned in the license, and safes To keep tools and a basin for washing and disinfection, and that there are a minimum of two veterinarians and at least one assistant veterinarian.
