• Madrid Vaccination of children between five and 11 years old will begin on December 15

At the beginning of August, the number of people infected by Covid-19 who had already been vaccinated accounted for 13.4% of all cases in the Community of Madrid.

Four months later, this digit has risen to 30.6%, which means that now at least three out of 10 positives have been

infected by the virus after having the complete pattern

.

In the Ministry of Health they attribute the evolution of figures to a statistical effect that could give the impression that immunity is disappearing with the passage of time.

On the contrary, they assure that

the vaccine does not lose efficacy for the moment

and that it continues to be resistant to the different strains that have been identified.

To explain this sort of paradox, we must look at the proportionality of the vaccinated population.

At the moment there are 90.5% of Madrilenians over 12 years of age with the complete schedule and

7.8% who have not received any punctures

, figures that in August were, respectively, 67.8% and 17.8 %.

Thus, with a million and a half more vaccinated now than four months ago, the probability of infections among those immunized increases, since

the vaccines are not 100% effective

.

Conversely, the percentage of positives among people who have not received any dose of the serum has decreased - from 73.7% to 57.3% - as this group has become smaller.

In the Ministry of Health they continue to insist on

the importance of vaccination

.

In fact, according to the latest weekly epidemiological report, one out of every three cases recorded in the last 14 days among unvaccinated people would not have occurred if they had been, a piece of data is obtained from the analysis of the effectiveness of the vials against Covid.

10,626,191 doses given

Until this Wednesday, a total of 10,626,191 doses had been put in Madrid.

90.5% of the target population - over 12 years of age - already have the complete schedule,

92.2% had received the first puncture

and 7.8% would fall into the category of "reluctant" to immunization.

By age group,

the lowest coverage is located in the 30-39 age group

, with 77.5%.

In the rest, it decreases as age decreases: over 80 years, 100%;

between 70 and 79 years, 97%, between 60 and 69 years, 96.4%;

between 40 and 49 years old, 87.6% and between 20 and 29 years old, 79.2%.

With one exception, the group between 12 and 19 years old, which presents a slightly higher rate: 81.4%.

Increase the incidence

As vaccination increases, so does the number of infections in this sixth wave.

This Tuesday, the accumulated incidence (AI) at 14 days was

141 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

, almost 37 points more than that of the previous week.

The municipality that is closest to the risk zone right now according to the new Covid traffic light -which establishes it from IA 300- is Boadilla del Monte (287), followed by Las Rozas (228) and Valdemoro (185).

The situation of the capital Madrid in this wave is better than the average for the region, with 13 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the whole municipality.

In this case, the worst records correspond to the districts of Fuencarral-El Pardo (147), Arganzuela (145.8) and Moncloa-Aravaca (145.5).
