It has been an integral part of the life of Bordeaux residents for almost ten years now.
The giant sculpture "Sanna", a work of Jaume Plensa and installed on the Place de la Comédie, will not leave the city in the coming months.
The town hall announced this Thursday that it had found a new agreement with its owner, a private collector.
It will remain in its place until March 2027. "The monumental statue is easily imposed on public space, even now belonging to the tourist and cultural heritage of the city", explains the municipality.
"Sanna", a great female figure, made her appearance in Bordeaux in 2013 during an exhibition of monumental sculptures by the Catalan artist.
Two years later in 2015, it was acquired by an individual, who by attachment to Bordeaux, made a usufruct donation for the benefit of the City for seven years.
When it expires, this donation will therefore be extended for an additional period of five years.
To ratify this agreement, a deliberation will be proposed to the City Council on February 8.
