A UN committee held a meeting to discuss who would be recognized as a UN ambassador for the turmoil of Myanmar and Afghanistan, but the decision was postponed and both countries were appointed by the previous government for the time being. It is expected to stay and continue activities.

In Myanmar, the army that couped in February has informed the United Nations that it will dismiss UN Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tung, who was appointed by the previous administration, and will appoint another ambassador.



Also in August, the Islamist Taliban, which regained power in Afghanistan, announced that it had appointed Taliban executives as new ambassadors in place of UN Ambassador Isakuzai appointed by the previous administration.



The credential committee, which examines representatives of UN member states, held a private meeting at the UN headquarters in New York on the 1st.



After the meeting, Sweden's UN Ambassador to the United Nations, Enestrom, told reporters that he had "postponed the decision on the credentials of the representatives of both countries" and said he had postponed the decision.



The next meeting is not scheduled.



The UN ambassadors representing the member countries will be examined by the "credential committee" and finally decided by the UN General Assembly, and for the time being, both countries are the current UN appointed by the previous administration. The ambassador is expected to stay in office and continue his activities.
