If the spread of infection continues to increase, the Public Health Agency's general advice can be reintroduced, announces Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) and the Public Health Agency's Director General Karin Tegmark Wisell at a press conference.

In that case, it means, among other things, that all adults are urged to prevent congestion, avoid public transport and use mouth guards in cramped environments.

In such a situation, employers can be asked to make it possible to participate in meetings digitally and, to a certain extent, introduce homework.

According to the Swedish Public Health Agency, there are also additional measures to be taken if this would not have a sufficient effect to reduce the spread of infection.

The burden on healthcare was still low

The Swedish Public Health Agency has developed three scenarios for the spread of infection and the burden on health care.

According to the authority, the spread of infection has now risen from scenario 0, which is the lowest, to scenario 1, which is the middle.

However, the pressure on healthcare and IVA sites is still low.

- The vast majority of vaccinated people do not get an infection at all, but we have a certain burden on healthcare and we know that the burden is affected if the spread of infection increases, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.

- If the spread of infection continues at the pace we have seen now, I make the assessment that we may need to introduce new measures as early as next week, she says.

According to Lena Hallengren, the government will now urgently analyze the Public Health Agency's data and proposals for measures and return with an action plan at the beginning of next week.
