“As for military security in the Euro-Atlantic region, it continues to deteriorate.

There is only one treaty left between Russia and the United States on the limitation of strategic offensive arms, ”the Russian diplomat said.

He noted that the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) and the Open Skies Treaty (OST) were torn apart by American partners.

Lavrov noted that this causes concern for everyone, but few people dare to point out the true reasons for the current situation.

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said earlier that the United States and Russia will have a "difficult conversation" on intermediate and shorter-range missiles, but the dialogue is important to prevent an arms race in this area.

Antonov also noted the importance of negotiations between the countries on hypersonic and other high-precision non-nuclear weapons "with an emphasis on those that are capable of solving strategic problems."
