Prosecuted for "

acts of illegal intelligence

", former President Mauricio Macri was banned from leaving Argentina and released in exchange for the payment of a bond.

In a decision rendered on Wednesday, Judge Martín Bava estimated that the former head of state allowed the spying of the families of the 44 members of the crew of the

submarine

San Juan

, including the sinking

off the coast of Patagonia. in 2017 had upset Argentina.

At the time, the relatives of the 44 missing sailors led an intense campaign to find out the fate of the submarine, which could never be refloated.

They claim to have been subjected to surveillance, wiretapping and intimidation to abandon their claims.

Currently in Chile, Mauricio Macri reacted by rejecting all the accusations against him.

Supported by all the leaders of the center-right opposition, of which he remains one of the main figures, he once again claimed to be a victim of political persecution.
