In Italy, after a soccer match, a reporter was sexually harassed by a passing soccer fan while broadcasting on the spot.

According to foreign media such as the BBC on the 1st local time, the incident occurred right after the match between Empoli and Fiorentina in Serie A, the first division of Italian professional football, on the 27th of last month.

Home team Empoli defeated Fiorentina 2-1, and Italian Tuscan TV reporter Greta Becaglia delivered the game news in front of Empoli's home stadium.

As Becaglia was doing a live broadcast, staring at the camera, a man approached from behind and touched Becaglia's ass.

Beccaglia, startled, waved at the man and said, "You can't do that." This scene was captured on the TV screen and broadcast live.

Becaglia sued the man in question for sexual assault. The man's name is Andrea Serani, and is known to be a fan of Fiorentina, who lost the match.

Police banned Serani from attending sporting events for the next three years.

In an interview with Italian media, Serani said, "I was momentarily angry at the loss of the team I was cheering for and made a gesture."

To this, Becaglia responded, "I was at a loss for words in his explanation. Do you really think you did nothing wrong?"

"At the time, I was working in front of a camera, so the sexual harassment scene was recorded on TV, but other women are being victimized like this without anyone knowing that there are no cameras."

Becaglia expressed her hope that her case would be useful to ensure that women are properly protected in Italy.

Toscana TV said that it plans to actively support Bekaglia, who is taking legal action.

Coincidentally, on the day of the incident, Serie A was campaigning against abuse and violence against women and raising awareness against stalking.

As part of the campaign, players and officials put red paint on one side of their face before playing.

This is a 'news pick'.
