Chinese research team presented the simulation results of the ocean discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. It has been shown that when Japan starts discharging, contaminated water reaches our waters within one year, and spreads throughout the Pacific Ocean after 10 years.

These are the simulation results presented by a research team at Tsinghua University in China.

According to the Japanese government's plan, if contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant is discharged into the sea 1km away, the contaminated water, including tritium, a major radioactive material, will reach the southern coast in 280 days.

After 320 days, the East Sea is polluted, and even the West Sea is polluted after a year.

After 2,400 days, it reaches the Indian Ocean, and after 3,600 days, or 10 years, it spreads throughout the Pacific Ocean.

It has been analyzed that the concentration of pollutants is higher in San Diego, USA than in Miyazaki, Japan, which is located at a similar latitude, as polluted water moves mainly to the east due to the influence of ocean currents.

In April, the Japanese government announced that it would discharge contaminated water into the sea over 30 years from 2023, and preparations are underway.

Neighboring countries, such as South Korea and China, are demanding the withdrawal of the release decision.

it has been confirmed that the contaminated water affects not only Asia, but also North America and the South Pacific, the voices against the discharge from the ocean are increasing. It seems to be getting bigger.
