Six months before the assassination attempt in Gävle, Tumso Abdurachmanov was contacted by a 32-year-old Chechen woman, living in France, via social media.

On a couple of occasions during the autumn of 2019, she visited Tumso in Sweden and a love relationship developed.

In SÄPO's investigation, she is mentioned as a girlfriend, but she and Tumso had also married according to Muslim tradition.

Secret intelligence report: Putin is responsible for attempted murder in Gävle

But in reality, the woman was part of a liked love trap.

Tumso did not understand until during the police investigation that he had been seduced - and cheated.

- I was chocked.

It was a real betrayal, he says.

Kodord: "Police"

The woman, in turn, claims that she was forced into the murder plans by her ex-husband in Chechnya - who she says had taken their joint children and brought them to their homeland.

The day before the attempted murder in Gävle, she sent pictures taken from inside the apartment to her ex-husband.

He was also the one who ordered her to open the door for the killer - with the code word: "Police".

"If you do not open the door today, you will neither hear nor see your children anymore," he said, the woman said during the trial.

Ex-husband: "No desire to comment"

The ex-husband who has not been questioned by Swedish police lives in the Chechen capital Grozny.

When the Assignment review team searches for him, he does not want to answer any questions.

Do you know who ordered the assault?

- I do not have the slightest desire to comment on it.

The ex-husband claims that the accusations from the ex-wife are false and places all the blame on her.

- If Swedish police are interested, they can make an official inquiry and come here.

I'll tell the investigators everything.

I have nothing to hide.

Everyone who has slandered me in this story, I intend to hold accountable.

But not according to Russian law, but according to Chechen law.

I can assure you.

What does "according to Chechen law" mean?

- Those who have not already understood will soon understand.

The 32-year-old woman was sentenced in the first instance to 8 years in prison for aiding and abetting attempted murder.

The Court of Appeal then reduced the sentence to 1.5 years in prison for aiding and abetting aggravated assault, as the court ruled that she did not know that Tumso would be murdered.

The woman has been deported.

Assignment review has searched for her without getting a response.
