A man accused of rape in a beauty institute in Avignon (Vaucluse) in January 2019 has been retried by the Gard Assize Court of Appeal in recent days.

The man had already been sentenced in December 2020 to 16 years of criminal imprisonment, reports

.

Denying the facts, he decided to appeal the verdict.

The man had assured that it was a consensual relationship, indicated

Already known to justice, he has already been convicted of domestic violence on former companions.

In Nîmes, the Advocate General requested a fourteen-year sentence with five-year socio-judicial follow-up.

After three days of debate, the accused was finally sentenced to eighteen years of imprisonment.
