A man has died in Badalona (Barcelona) after receiving the
discharge of an electric taser
by the Mossos d'Esquadra and then be immobilized by agents.
As the Catalan police have confirmed to Efe, the events occurred
on November 26 at noon,
when a family notified the Mossos d'Esquadra that their son was threatening them "with knives."
The agents accessed the family's home through a neighbor's house, since the son had allegedly
blocked the entrances.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have assured that the agents used the taser pistol "for the good of the family and those present" to
reduce the man
who, after falling to the ground, was also immobilized.
The man was
taken to hospital,
where he died, and an autopsy is still pending to determine the causes of death.
Tasers are
allowed in Catalonia to help in complex reductions
of a person in the event that there is a risk for the agents, those affected themselves or third parties, and they have built-in recording systems.
