With extensive searches, the Hessian public prosecutor's office is taking action against so-called hate postings this Wednesday morning together with the state criminal investigation office.

The focus in Hessen is on ten suspects from Frankfurt and the districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg, Gießen, Groß-Gerau, Limburg-Weilburg, Main-Kinzig and Marburg-Biedenkopf.

The nine men and one woman between the ages of 19 and 63 are accused of making statements relevant to criminal law in social networks.

They reportedly insulted and threatened politicians because of their activities.

Women were attacked in a sexualized way.

In addition, they had spread National Socialist symbols such as swastikas and played down the Holocaust.

As the Hessian attorney general announced on Wednesday morning, Hessen forms a nationwide focus with the ten suspects who are to be questioned during the day.

1,100 suspects have already been identified

The "Day of Action to Combat Hate Postings" is coordinated by the Federal Criminal Police Office.

The Central Office for Combating Internet Crime (ZIT) of the Public Prosecutor's Office was also involved.

As the authority further announced, the preliminary proceedings are mainly based on information from citizens.

They had reported the crimes on the various platforms that the law enforcement authorities had set up.

In the event of criminal relevance, investigative proceedings were initiated that led to the identification of the suspects.

Since the "Hessen against Hetze" program was launched, almost 8,000 reports have been checked since November 2019, and investigative proceedings have been initiated in around 3,000 cases.

Around 1,100 suspects have been identified.
