(A closer look at China) Working together to create a "new" future, Xi Jinping solves the problem of China-Africa high-level community with a shared future

China News Service, Beijing, November 30 (Xing Chong and Xie Yanbing) Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing on the evening of the 29th and delivered a keynote speech.

In his speech, he quoted Senegal's founding president Sanghor's famous saying, "Let's report to the new world", and called on the majestic strength of the 2.7 billion people in Central Africa to build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.

The eighth ministerial meeting of the two-day Forum on China-Africa Cooperation opened on the 29th in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The theme of this meeting is "deepening China-Africa partnership, promoting sustainable development, and building a China-Africa community with a shared future in a new era."

An international issue expert interviewed by a reporter from China News Agency pointed out that in the 65 years since the opening of diplomatic relations, China-Africa cooperation has accumulated a solid foundation; this time President Xi Jinping put forward the "four-point proposal" and "nine projects", which have distinct characteristics of the times. The construction of a non-high-level community with a shared future has set a model for the new development of the international community in the future.

Looking back on the past, the 65-year history of cooperation has answered "Why China-Africa relations are good" and "Why China-Africa friendship is deep."

Liu Hongwu, Dean of the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University, noted that President Xi Jinping specifically mentioned in his speech that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of its legal seat in the United Nations. He expressed his sincere thanks to the vast number of African friends who supported China that year.

"This shows that China-Africa cooperation has a deep historical accumulation, and reflects China's historical view of not forgetting its original intention."

Take the China-Africa Cooperation Forum as an example. In the past 20 years since its establishment, Chinese companies have built more than 10,000 kilometers of railways, nearly 100,000 kilometers of highways, nearly 1,000 bridges, nearly 100 ports, and built more than 80 large-scale power facilities in Africa. It has built more than 130 medical facilities, 45 gymnasiums, and more than 170 schools to train more than 160,000 talents in various fields for Africa.

Especially at the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, President Xi Jinping proposed to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.

Over the past three years, China and Africa have made every effort to implement the "Eight Major Actions" and other summit results, especially to overcome the impact of the epidemic, and have completed a large number of key cooperation projects.

According to statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, China-Africa trade volume bucked the trend and broke through the US$200 billion mark.

"China-Africa relations did not develop in a day. China-Africa cooperation is consistent and comes out one step at a time." A model of South-South cooperation, China-Africa cooperation can always move forward in accordance with the development needs of both parties and changes in the international situation.

Looking at the future from history, the spirit of friendship and cooperation between China and Africa, which means "sincere friendship, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win, common development, uphold justice, defend justice, adapt to the current situation, and be open and inclusive" is the spirit of friendship and cooperation between China and Africa. The true portrayal of sharing weal and woe over the years is also a source of strength for China-Africa friendly relations.

Li Hongfeng, Dean of the African College of Beijing Foreign Studies University, told a reporter from China News Agency that this time President Xi Jinping put forward the “four-point propositions” of adhering to unity to fight the epidemic, deepening pragmatic cooperation, promoting green development, and maintaining fairness and justice. The “Nine Projects” are the first three-year plan and pragmatic measures of the “China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035”, which can be regarded as concrete actions of the “four-point proposition”, which is a concrete construction on the fulcrum.

Furthermore, the world is still at an important juncture in the fight against the epidemic, and health projects are still the shortcomings of African countries. China has proposed that guaranteeing the availability and affordability of vaccines in Africa is related to the actual needs of African countries; poverty reduction and benefiting farmers Engineering, trade promotion projects, investment-driven projects, digital innovation projects, and people-to-people exchange projects are the further focus of pragmatic cooperation. Green development projects, capacity building projects, and peace and security projects will help lay a solid foundation for Africa’s medium and long-term development.

"Whether it is from the political and economic macro level, or from the personal micro perspective, the'nine projects' fall into the realities of China-Africa cooperation, and the fields involved all reflect the concept of shared destiny, which is a realistic development path that focuses on the future." Li Hongfeng said.

In the opinion of the interviewed experts, the high-level China-Africa community with a shared future not only benefits both sides, but also creates a cooperation model for the international community under major changes unseen in a century. China-Africa cooperation is opening a channel for a new world and a new future.

Wu Chuanhua, an associate researcher at the China African Research Institute, said that the current human society is at a historical crossroads. The future is related to the future and destiny. People are looking forward to a "new world" that fits common values. This is exactly what it means to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

"Historically, China and Africa have fought side by side, and the current development is side by side, and the future is created side by side. The China-Africa community with a shared future has undoubtedly played a model role in building a community with a shared future for mankind." Wu Chuanhua said.
