An unprecedented social movement.
The management of the northern DIY brand, Leroy Merlin, must receive, this Tuesday, the inter-union of the company, affected for ten days by blockades of warehouses and walkouts in stores, concerning wages.
This meeting will be the first since the failure of the compulsory annual negotiation (NAO) on November 9, which caused the conflict.
It will be held "on condition that the blockages are lifted", demands the management, which says it wants to find a "lasting agreement".
"The goods are circulating again"
“We don't know what to expect from it, but it's a first step and we have eased off.
The goods are circulating again ”, declared Monday to AFP Romain Coussin, central delegate CGT, employed in Valence in the Drôme.
The meeting is due to take place this Tuesday morning in the greater Lille area, where the brand (owned by the Mulliez family, which also owns the Decathlon, Auchan, Boulanger and Flunch brands) has its head office in Lezennes, near Lille.
It has 25,000 employees
A turnover of 7.9 billion euros
According to management, the social movement was limited to 37 of the 142 Leroy Merlin stores, with a strike rate of less than 3%.
Three weeks ago, the inter-union CFDT-CFTC-CGT-FO refused the general salary increase of 2% proposed by management, with a minimum of 40 euros, lower than the inflation rate of 2.6% measured at the end of October by INSEE year on year.
Leroy Merlin's sales in France - 7.9 billion euros in 2020 - have further increased this year, according to figures presented to the unions.
"We have never let and will never let the purchasing power of our employees decline," replies management, asserting that over the past eight years, wages have increased by 11%, against inflation of 5%.
The unions are calling, however, for greater profit sharing.
