November 30, 2021 Three years in prison, minus the nine months already served: this is the sentence imposed in the United States on Emma Coronel Aispuro, the wife of the king of drug trafficking 'El Chapo', for drug trafficking and money laundering. A sentence of less than four years requested by the prosecution.

Federal Judge Rudolph Contreras has acknowledged that the former beauty queen, now 32, pleaded guilty after her arrest last February, was very young when she married the boss.

The woman was arrested last February at Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on drug trafficking charges.

Emma Coronel Aispuro has dual American and Mexican citizenship.

In the courtroom she pleaded guilty to the crimes of conspiracy for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin and marijuana, but also of money laundering and participation in real estate transactions owned by her drug trafficker husband.
