Four electricity operators have been sued by the Consumption Housing Environment Association (CLCV) for commercial practices deemed to be deceptive, the CLCV announced on Monday, warning subscribers of alternative offers in a context of sharp rise in energy prices.

The CLCV estimates that these operators - ekWateur, GreenYellow (Cdiscount), Mint Energy and Ovo Energy - operating around 500,000 to 600,000 individual customers in total, are "selling without prior order", have a "deceptive commercial practice" and " unfair terms, ”according to a statement released Tuesday.

Strong price increases

The CLCV denounces certain commercial practices, such as the fact of transforming without the explicit consent of the customer an offer indexed on the regulated sales tariff into an offer indexed on the fluctuations of the wholesale market, "which makes the offer much more risky" , she emphasizes.

Or even to increase "in certain cases in a very important way" the price of the offer of a customer, by limiting oneself to limited information by e-mail.

"The CLCV recommends that consumers be very vigilant about the information received, especially by e-mail, because a sharp increase can occur at any time," warns the organization, which recalls the context of the rise in market prices. fat.

A tariff guarantee

As a result, "faced with tariff increases and contractual changes giving rise to genuine concern for consumers", the CLCV "recommends subscribing to an offer at the regulated electricity tariff".

“There will be a price increase, but we know by how much and when: 4% until this summer.

A ceiling already largely exceeded by alternative operators.

This price guarantee does not exist for alternatives ”, underlines the CLCV on its website.
