The crisis on the Polish border with Belarus has by no means been resolved with the repatriation of some migrants to their home countries.

Because on his first visit to those he lured into his country and had brought to the border with Poland, dictator Lukashenko made it clear that he was now pursuing a dual strategy.

He keeps some of the migrants close to the border with Poland as a means of pressure - and every night, groups of people try to cross the border, often led by Belarusian border guards.

In addition, Lukashenko, who enjoyed stroking a migrant child in cynical dictatorial fashion, opened a propaganda front, for example with the bold assertion that Germany had agreed to accept some of the migrants.

Propaganda as a new front

After all, the unauthorized entry from Belarus to Germany via Poland is clearly on the decline.

Lukashenko has to realize that he has miscalculated.

Thanks to drones, Poland can now monitor and defend its border with Belarus better than it expected.

Furthermore, the EU has put pressure on the countries through which the migrants were flown to Minsk to prevent their airlines from participating in state-sponsored people smuggling.

The EU has shown what it can achieve with its legal means and market power.
