It is cold in northern Sweden and in one week the price of electricity has doubled tenfold.

The peak price in southern Sweden is four kronor per kilowatt hour between 5 pm and 6 pm.

- The price during the rest of Monday is around 2.50 per hour, says Lotta Aronsson, electricity price expert at Eon.

She says that the high price in December is due to the weather.

It is cold and it does not blow so much, neither in Sweden nor in our neighboring countries.

- We have chosen to have a pricing that makes us connected with other countries in Europe, says Lotta Aronsson.

Those who have a fixed electricity price are not affected by the high electricity price on Monday.

Profits to be made on energy savings

- I have a variable electricity price and I think I should close windows and save on electricity, says Jonas Giuliano, who is out for a walk in Limhamn with his children Leo and Anna.

Susanne Adolfsson also lives in a villa in Limhamn.

She has a fixed electricity price.

- We have already as children learned to save on electricity so I do, she says.

The advice from Eon is to be economical with electricity consumption when the price is high.

- If you can, it is always good to think about whether you can make some energy savings in your home, says Lotta Aronsson.

She can not comment on whether Monday's high electricity price per kilowatt hour will last for the rest of her year.

It depends mainly on how the weather will be.

All prices in the article are without taxes and fees.
