According to public reports, Gong Jianhua was born in June 1962 in Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province. He started working in July 1983 and joined the Communist Party of China in October 1984.
Gong Jianhua has been active in Jiangxi politics for a long time. He once served as a cadre of the Rural Policy Research Office of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, the deputy mayor of the Nanchang Municipal People’s Government, the deputy secretary of the Nanchang Municipal Party Committee, the deputy secretary of the Yichun Municipal Party Committee, and the secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee.
Beginning in May 2018, he served as deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, member of the Party Leadership Group, and chairman of the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions.
