The decoration, made of brick walls, subdued lights, bowler hat-shaped lamps and a library of old books bound upstairs, is not lacking in charm.

It can be a sublimation for an ideal. The artist weaves a web of unreality, enchantment, illusion, liberation of the imagination. Rivers of blue bricks, Golden Lotus and Necklaces, Crown of the Night, Wild Knots and Shimmering Precious Stonewall, these works are embedded in the building, suspended from trees or placed on the water; they interact with the architecture of the Petit Palais and the gold of its garden.This exhibition is an opening message offered free of charge to the public. Passionate about the 8th art and himself a photographer, Thomas Walther began collecting images in the 1970s. For more than twenty years, he developed an imposing collection, working on instinct to unearth his finds. “He was not an amateur who surrounded himself with advisers. He liked to go through merchants and auction houses and acquired works of already known authors, as well as less popular artists ”, specifies Quentin Bajac, director of the Jeu de Paume, who is the curator of the exhibition, with Sarah Meister, former curator of the photography department of MoMA.In the 1980s and 1990s, the collector became involved in the acquisition policy of the New York museum, and it was natural that in 2001, the establishment decided to purchase the nearly 400 photographs.An impressive set which is being exported for the first time outside the Museum of Modern Art, in an event of such magnitude: at the Jeu de Paume, no less than 228 prints - including about forty unpublished - are presented.

We find in this new repertoire all the narrative and poetic talent of the pianist's compositions in a contemporary jazz that is both inventive and profound.Created at the end of 2006 in England, the Fabrice Tarel Trio has forged over time a very personal universe. The soundscapes follow one another quite naturally in compositions skilfully balanced between writing and improvisation. A great intensity emerges from the whole. Certain passages, rhythms by throbbing osinatos, release a hypnotic atmosphere, while others more intimate reveal themselves all in sensitivity and stripping back. We observe in the musicians an obvious complicity, a generosity in the service of the group,for a musical journey of great poetry.
