November 28, 2021 "We call on Russia to transparency, to reduce tensions and to de-escalate" on the Ukrainian front.

This was stated by NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference with the president of the EU commission Ursula von der Leyen from Riga, part of a short tour in the Baltic countries.

"NATO remains vigilant and reaffirms its political and practical support for the government of Ukraine", explained Stoltenberg who will chair the meeting of the Alliance's foreign ministers in Latvia on 29 November.

At the center of von der Leyen and Stoltenberg's visit to Vilnius and Riga were the Belarus and Ukraine files.

"When a member state is attacked, the EU remains united. We stand by Latvia in this challenging period, ensuring support in terms of human and financial resources", added von der Leyen.
