UAE calls for concerted international efforts to combat trafficking in persons

The UAE praised the plan as an important tool for unifying global efforts, stressing its commitment to its role in this field, as it highlighted the "National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking", which was established in 2007, with the aim of implementing many procedures and programs that contribute to combating this crime.

In its statement, the UAE noted three areas that the state focuses on as part of its national strategy to combat human trafficking, namely prevention and capacity-building at the national and regional levels, providing legal and social protection for victims, and strengthening international cooperation and commitment to it.

In its statement, the UAE indicated its achievements in this field, and launched several awareness programs and campaigns, to inform individuals about the dangers of the crime of human trafficking, methods of protection from it and ways to report it, stressing that the UAE has intensified its efforts in this direction during the Covid-19 pandemic, by developing precautionary plans. The statement included the state's tireless efforts to build capacity in this field, as a specialized program was launched to combat trafficking in persons, the first of its kind in the region, as it contributes to assisting law enforcement agencies, locally and regionally, to gain the necessary skills in the field of research and investigation to detect these crimes. .

In this context, the UAE is one of the first countries in the region to pass legislation to criminalize trafficking in persons, and the UAE continues to review and update its laws to serve the interests of victims and provide them with the necessary support in the best possible way.

In parallel with these efforts, the UAE seeks to support victims of human trafficking at all stages, especially by providing them with comprehensive health care, and helping them achieve psychological stability. About the establishment of a fund to support victims.

The UAE also signed a number of memoranda of understanding with friendly countries to enhance cooperation in combating this crime and protecting victims, and established the "Abu Dhabi Dialogue" initiative to organize consultations between labor sending and receiving countries in Asia.
