Passenger hiding in the cabin of an American plane for more than two hours
A passenger stowed away in the cramped landing gear compartment of an American Airlines plane for more than two hours as it flew from Guatemala to Miami on Saturday morning.
According to the Miami Herald, CBP said the 26-year-old was arrested at Miami International Airport when he tried to hide in the landing gear compartment.
He was taken to a local hospital.
"People are exposed to extreme risks when they try to hide themselves in confined spaces...the incident is still under investigation," the authority said.
Miami-Dade County Department of Aviation communications officer Greg Chen said the man was hiding in the landing gear compartment of American Airlines Flight 1182, a roughly two-hour and 50-minute flight from Guatemala City to Miami.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said it assisted CBP with its investigation.
