The Moroccan authorities decided, this Sunday, November 28, to suspend all direct passenger flights to Morocco, for a period of two weeks, from Monday at 23:59 (22:59 UT).

The move comes as the Covid-19 variant Omicron is spreading at high speed across the planet.

This is precisely the reason advanced by the Interministerial Coronavirus Monitoring Committee in Morocco: it is a question of "

preserving the gains made by the country in the fight against the pandemic

 ".

Concretely, no direct commercial flight from abroad will be able to land in the various Moroccan airports.

This measure will take effect from Monday, November 29, at midnight and will be in effect for two weeks.

According to a statement from the Committee, the situation will be reassessed regularly in order to "

adjust the necessary measures

 ".

In other words, this suspension could last beyond fifteen days if the situation were to deteriorate.

In recent days, many countries have banned their soil from southern African countries where the Omicron variant was first detected.

WHO has also praised the “

courage

” of these countries, for having shared information with the whole world, at the risk of finding themselves isolated.
