Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, directed the transformation of the Press Award into the "Arab Media Award", to include all aspects of media work, written, visual and digital.

On the occasion of honoring the winners of the "Arab Journalism Award" in its 20th session, His Highness said on His Highness's page on "Twitter": "We launched the (Arab Press Award) twenty years ago, during which it celebrated 300 creators out of 100,000 participants from our Arab world.

Today, we honored the winners of its 20th session, and directed the Dubai Press Club to transform it into the (Arab Media Award) to include Arab journalism, visual media and digital media.”

The award honored its winners during a special ceremony organized by the Dubai Press Club, representative of the General Secretariat of the award, at Al Wasl Square at Expo 2020 Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. But modernization should not be at the expense of the profession’s values ​​and principles.. Our local media’s adherence to constants makes it all appreciated for being objective in its presentation, fair in its positions and beneficial in its content.. The strength of the media and the extent of its impact are measured by its ability to make a tangible positive impact on people’s lives.

His Highness added: "Media institutions today are betting on technology to win the audience and expand the circle of spread... But it is also necessary to have a human cadre capable of adapting it in the right way to serve the work.

And I expect from our media institutions initiatives and programs to prepare national media cadres that possess the tools of media proficiency by future standards.”

His Highness praised the national roles played by the local media in various situations and occasions, especially during the past two years, as the Dubai media, as well as the Emirati media in general, showed high efficiency in preparing coverage that accompanied the huge efforts that included all sectors in the face of the challenge that the world is still suffering from its consequences, and what The media broadcast positive messages about the qualitative achievements through which the country was able to overcome this exceptional stage, and accelerate the return of life to normal within a record time.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, during the meeting, which was attended by the Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, Mona Ghanem Al-Marri, was briefed on the overall work of the Council and its strategy based on a careful assessment of the capabilities of the media system in Dubai and the extent of its response to the changes taking place in the field of communication globally and the adoption of Technical options that provide its various institutions with the desired space for interaction with a wider circle of recipients and followers.

His Highness was also acquainted with the broad features of the development plans that the Council intends to implement during the next stage, to bring the performance of Dubai media to the desired levels of quality in form and content, in order to ensure the retention of followers and to establish their confidence in the content provided that takes into account the highest international standards.
