In the clip you will see how a lesson works.

For a month now, the artist and illustrator Mattias Kvick has been working one day a week to illustrate the lessons during the course You and your life, a language course aimed at people who are new to Sweden and who are far from the labor market.

Came by chance

The course is part of a larger project funded through the European Social Fund and the teaching is conducted primarily through conversation and interaction in various ways.

That the course would include an artist in the lessons came by pure coincidence when Mattias Kvick accompanied his wife, who is a teacher at the school, to work and drew on the board when she taught.

- We then noticed that the conversation was completely different in the classroom and wanted to try to take him in more times, says Annika Kihlstrand who is deputy principal at Dalsland Folk High School.

Can not the teachers themselves draw on the board?

- Not at that pace and not so professional.

Then he becomes a reinforcement, as you as a teacher often have a lot of balls in the air, says Annika Kihlstrand.

The course will use a cartoonist in the lessons until the end of December, after which you will evaluate whether it is something that the school wants to continue with next semester.
