In the program for the Riksdag, which is SD's highest decision-making body, the party board writes that "measures must be taken to prevent Islamist independent schools from operating in Sweden".

But when party secretary Richard Jomshof called a press conference on Saturday, he took the matter a step further and spoke generally about Muslim independent schools.

- We know that they divide, they reinforce exclusion.

These children need to get a reasonable chance to become part of our society and therefore they should go to other schools with Swedish students and learn what it actually means to live and work in Sweden, he said.

According to Patrick Reslow, rapporteur on school issues, Muslim independent schools are contributing to segregation.

- We have religious freedom and it also means freedom from religion, these children, many of them are already segregated and will not go further into it.

Why not ban all religious free schools?

- We have a long tradition in the country with, for example, Jewish schools and they have never been a problem.

We have Christian schools that in many ways do not have problems, but the problem with Muslim independent schools in particular is to emphasize that one should stay out of society in general.

The Sweden Democrats now see an opportunity to bribe the school issue from the right since the Liberals put less focus on education policy.

- We want to shoulder the responsibility for school issues and take the leader jersey, says Reslow.

Who will be the Minister of Education in a government from the right?

- I hope that it will be a Sweden Democrat.

Richard is a school policy spokesperson and clearly has understanding.
