Israeli authorities decide to close borders due to a new strain of COVID-19

The corresponding decision was made by the ministerial commission to combat the pandemic at an emergency meeting.

"The following decisions were made at the meeting: foreigners from all countries will be banned from entering Israel, except for cases approved by the Committee on Exceptions," RIA Novosti reports, citing the office of the Prime Minister of the country.

Naftali Bennett previously called Israel a state of emergency over the new COVID-19 strain.

On November 25, it became known that scientists have identified a new strain of coronavirus in Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong, which could potentially become the most dangerous.
