The late former President Chun Doo-hwan announced on the 27th that the victims of the May 18 Democratization Movement and their bereaved families were not included in the 'apology' by Lee Soon-ja, the former wife of the former wife, today (27th).

This was an amplified explanation of what Mr. Lee said at the ceremony this morning, "I want to deeply apologize on behalf of my husband to those who have suffered and been hurt during my husband's tenure."

Former Blue House secretary Min Jeong-ki from the former clan met with reporters this afternoon at the Seoul Memorial Park in Seocho-gu, Seoul, which is a crematorium, and said, "I read the article and they say that the 5.18 organizations cannot accept an apology. You didn't," he said.

He said, "(Lee) obviously said he was in office," he said.

Mr. Lee only apologized for what happened to Mr. Jeon 'during his tenure' as president, and emphasized that the 5/18 incident occurred before September 1, 1980, when Mr. Jeon took office.

When asked by a reporter about what happened during his tenure, for example, Min said, "Some of the students who were protesting were like that, and there were some students who died as a result of police torture."

Min also emphasized that this is not the first time that Mr. Jeon has apologized.

He said, "I made several mistakes while in office, and there are words in my memoir that I apologize to those who have been harmed because of it,There have been a few times during that time."

He added, "I did it when I entered Baekdamsa Temple, and he said that at the National Assembly hearing," he added.

On the other hand, former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Dong-yeon, who ran for president, responded to Mr. Lee's apology, saying, "It's just a lip-sync apology that's so random and contradictory."

Spokesperson Song Moon-hee pointed out in a written comment, "Mr. Lee has even praised her husband as 'the father of democracy in Korea', so I have no choice but to doubt the sincerity of the apology."
