In a joint article for the National Interest on the US Democracy Summit, diplomats stressed that there is only one international system in the world, based on the UN.

“There is only one set of rules, and these are the basic norms for regulating international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter,” the ambassadors are convinced.

According to the authors of the material, bragging about an international order based on rules without reference to the UN and international law falls under the category of revisionism and is anti-democratic.

The heads of the Russian and Chinese diplomatic missions in Washington strongly rejected the idea of an international summit in support of democracy initiated by the United States.

According to diplomats, this will cause an ideological confrontation.

Washington has previously invited 110 countries to the "Summit for Democracy" to be held in December.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the American initiative to hold the event, said that it would be a movement towards the split of the world community into friends and foes.
