Opening direct travel between Egypt and Saudi Arabia..1.6 million workers benefit

The Egyptian Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, received a report through the Ministry’s labor representation offices at the Egyptian Consulate in Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in which they revealed that the Saudi Ministry of Interior allowed direct entry to the Kingdom from (Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, Vietnam, and India), without The need to spend (14) days outside the Kingdom, provided that the institutional quarantine is applied to them for 5 days, regardless of their immunization status outside the Kingdom, starting from next Wednesday.

The head of the Egyptian Labor Representation Office in Riyadh, Ahmed Ragaei, said that hundreds of thousands of workers will benefit from the decision to open direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Egypt as of the first of next December.

Ragaei told Masrawy that the number of beneficiaries of the decision is estimated at about one million and 600,000 Egyptian workers, who were not included in the previous exemption decisions, and they are: medical staff, faculty members in Saudi universities, teachers, and factory workers in the oil-rich kingdom.

He pointed out that the decision coincides with the decision of the Saudi monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to extend the validity of visas for workers who are currently outside the Kingdom until November 30, as well as extending the residency of those whose residency expires until this date.

And the Saudi Ministry of Interior had announced that direct entry to the Kingdom from six countries would be allowed without the need to spend 14 days outside it, with the implementation of institutional quarantine for a period of five days, starting from the beginning of next month.

Saudi Arabia had slowly reopened its doors at the beginning of this year, and had begun to welcome vaccinated foreign tourists since August 1.
