A statement from the Elysee Palace said on Friday that French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to the Gulf region on an official visit that includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, between the third and fourth of December.

In late August, Macron met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Baghdad Conference on Cooperation and Partnership, where the French President requested assistance from Qatar in the evacuations from Kabul Airport, according to an informed French source.

In another context, Pope Francis received the French President in the Vatican on Friday morning, and during the meeting they discussed relations between the two countries and issues of environmental preservation, as well as ensuring that everyone has access to vaccines against the Corona virus.
