This year, the French are doing it in advance.

One month before the end of the year celebrations, for fear of shortages, many of them are already buying their Christmas presents and going to toy stores.

Stores that are seeing an increase in footfall in their stores but also an increase in the average basket.

In the alleys of the Passage des Princes, grandparents, parents and even a few children stroll, catalog in hand.

At one month of Christmas, they are looking for the little nugget to put under the tree.

But this year, they are ahead, some for purely economic reasons as evidenced by this client: "I would like to benefit from the promotions that there are this week".

Now is the time for anticipation

Others, to be sure of finding their happiness like Bruno, grandfather, happy to answer the list of his five grandchildren.

"I want to be able to be sure of finding what I'm looking for because I know that in this period of Covid, there are always stock problems so this year, I am going about it a month in advance", confides- he does.

Despite the palpable fear of some customers, Franck Mathais, the spokesperson for JouéClub, is reassuring.

"The toys are coming, the situation is relaxing," he says.

"We are currently receiving toys that should arrive at the beginning of the month but they are arriving, and since Christmas is December 25, we still have time," he says.

The fear of shortage sells.

JouéClub has recorded an increase in footfall in its stores, an increase in the average basket and growth - since the beginning of the month - of 20% compared to 2019.
