Britain: The new “Corona” strain has 30 “different, linked mutations”

The chief medical advisor at Britain's Health Service, Susan Hopkins, has warned that the new strain of coronavirus that has been detected in South Africa is the most worrisome yet.

In statements to the BBC, today, Friday, Hopkins said that the new strain has about 30 "different mutations linked together", twice the number of mutations that were discovered in the Delta strain, which is more capable of spreading.

And the United Kingdom announced yesterday, Thursday, that it will temporarily ban flights from South Africa and five neighboring countries, in an attempt to limit the spread of the new strain, of which no cases have been discovered so far in Britain.
